Working in family law is inherently stressful. Dealing with heightened emotions and other people's problems day in and day out leaves little room for the family law adviser to look after their own well being.

Staying Sane in Family Law gives the practitioner the essential tools to preserve their own mental well being and find contentment in their work.

Annmarie Carvalho, a former family lawyer turned counsellor, brings in-depth psychological insight to provide a personal hands-on toolkit for everyone involved in this high octane field.

Get to grips with:

  • Fascinating concepts from the world of psychology and neuroscience to help you understand your clients (and yourself!) better;
  • Ground-breaking therapeutic techniques on working ethically with the emotional, the vulnerable and the downright angry;
  • How to be a trauma-informed practitioner;
  • Real-life case studies on subjects such as attachment/co-dependency, addiction, mental health disorders and neurodiversity; and
  • Sanity saving tools to help you stay grounded in this topsy turvy world of family law

For those working at the sharp end of family law, Staying Sane in Family Law is an invaluable, reassuring and game-changing read.

Who would find the book useful?

  • solicitors
